How To Clean Crimsafe Screens

Crimsafe Screens — Glass Repairs & Installations in Taminda, NSW

Crimsafe Screens are becoming increasingly popular due to the value they add to your home as they are an efficient method of protecting yourself against theft and break-ins. An accumulation of dirt and dust, however, can make them look less visually appealing. Thankfully, it's easy to clean Crimsafe screens and the only things you need to know is how and how often, to keep your home looking its best.

What Makes Crimsafe Screens EASY TO CLEAN?

Firstly, the reason that Crimsafe Screens are easy to clean is that they are solidly made. Because they are made of tensile tuff steel with a UV fade-resistant, high quality powder that repels dust, the paint won’t flake off them when you’re cleaning, unlike some other furniture or doors that are coated with paint over metal. Crimsafe Screens are also attached securely with a screw-clamp system which means that they won’t become loose when you are cleaning.

How Often Should You Clean Your Crimsafe Screens?

Just because they’re dust repellent and the paint doesn’t flake, this doesn’t mean you don’t need to clean your screens. Crimsafe recommends cleaning their screens at least twice a year to maintain their appearance and prevent any damage. If you live on the coast, or your screens are in an area that gets a lot of dust and dirt, more frequent cleaning is likely needed, say every two to three months. Try setting a reminder in your calendar or phone, so you don’t forget.

It’s important to keep the screens in good condition, as saltwater can eventually corrode the screens and dirt and grime can work their way into the frames causing a loosening over time. Damaged screens can result in your warranty being voided (or even worse, leave your home susceptible to break in) so it’s important to maintain them in good working order.

How To Clean Your Screens

Crimsafe has its own range of cleaners that you can purchase and use to clean screens, however, a regular wash and wax formula may work as well.

  1. Carefully read the directions on the cleaning products (or using Crimsafe’s own care kit) mix up the solution in a bucket.
  2. Using a sponge or a cloth, wipe down the screens and frames carefully to remove all the dirt and grime. If you want to make it extra easy, you could use a spray attachment on a hose or a spray bottle to speed up the job. Don’t forget to close the windows before you start.
  3. Finally, wipe down the scre ens with a damp cloth in clean water, or give a gentle rinse with the hose, making sure to wash any dislodged dirt from the wall below to ensure you don’t get a “tide mark”. You’ll be amazed at how much dirt comes off the screen and how shiny it all looks when you’re done. Even in urban areas, dust and dirt really do build up.

Your screens will be sparkling like new, and you’ll feel the warm satisfaction of a job well done in record time.
